All-Purpose Beer Batter for Fish, Etc.

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup room temperature beer
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • Method:
    1. Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl.
    2. Separately, whisk together wet ingredients.
    3. Mix the two components together until smooth.
    4. Dip fresh or not frozen foods for frying into batter, lightly tapping off excess, and fry in hot oil (375F) until crisp and golden, allowing oil to come back to temperature before adding more pieces to the fryer.
