Quebecois Trapper's Beans

Baked beans with a hint of maple syrup and molasses

Quebecois Trapper's Beans

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons garlic
  • 3 ounces chopped seasoning bacon (ends and pieces)
  • 1 (13.7 ounce)  can Heinz beans with tomato sauce
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons maple syrup (grade b preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Butter a 1-quart casserole dish and set aside.
  3. Saute onions in butter until soft and caramelized.
  4. Stir together all the bean ingredients (including cooked onion) and pour into the buttered casserole.
  5. Bake uncovered for about one hour or until the consistency is as you like.
Serves 2-3

  2. wowser these are good , i used grade a dark amber from butternut farms wicked good stuff by its self but added to this very easy recipe ,wowser dienia b cherry bombers
